Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 14, 2026

The Marathi Bana ("The Marathi Bana", "we", "us" or "our") is operated by The Marathi Bana Private Limited, a company of Invictus Ideas and Solutions Private Limited. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect through this website, why we collect it, how it is used and protected, and the choices you have. By using this website, creating an account, subscribing to our newsletter or purchasing an ebook, you agree to the practices described below.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information in the following ways:

  • Account information: when you register for an account (for example, to buy an ebook or access "My Library"), we collect your name, email address and password. Your password is stored in encrypted form; we never store it as plain text.
  • Purchase information: when you buy an ebook, we record the order details (ebook purchased, amount, date and payment status) so that your purchase appears in your library. Payments are processed by Razorpay, our payment gateway partner — we do not receive or store your card, UPI or bank details; Razorpay processes and secures that information under its own privacy and security practices.
  • Contact form and enquiries: if you write to us through the Contact page, we collect your name, email address, subject and message so that we can respond to you.
  • Newsletter subscription: if you subscribe to receive updates, we collect your email address for that sole purpose.
  • Usage information: like most websites, our servers automatically log basic technical information such as your IP address, browser type, device type, pages visited and the date/time of your visit, which helps us keep the site secure and understand how it is used.
  • Language preference: we remember whether you are browsing in Marathi or English so the site displays correctly on your next visit.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Create and manage your account, and give you access to ebooks you have purchased through "My Library".
  • Process payments, confirm orders and provide purchase-related support.
  • Respond to messages sent through the Contact page.
  • Send newsletter updates about new videos, books and history stories, if you have subscribed.
  • Maintain the security, performance and proper functioning of the website.
  • Comply with applicable laws, regulations and lawful requests from government or regulatory authorities.

We do not use your personal information for automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects, and we do not sell your personal information to third parties.

3. Cookies and Similar Technologies

We use strictly necessary cookies and similar local storage to keep you signed in, remember your language preference, and keep the shopping/checkout flow working correctly. Embedded content from third parties, such as YouTube videos, may set their own cookies when you interact with them; those are governed by the respective third party's own policy, not this one. You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings, though some parts of the site (such as staying signed in) may not work correctly if you disable them.

4. How We Share Your Information

We share personal information only in the following limited circumstances:

  • With Razorpay, to process payments for ebook purchases securely.
  • With service providers who host our website, send our emails/newsletters or provide similar technical infrastructure, solely to help us operate the website.
  • If required to do so by law, court order, or a valid request from a government or regulatory authority.
  • To protect the rights, property or safety of The Marathi Bana, our users, or the public, including to detect and prevent fraud or abuse.

We do not share your personal information with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

5. Data Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards, such as encrypted password storage and access-controlled systems, to protect your personal information from unauthorised access, alteration or disclosure. No method of transmission or storage over the internet is completely secure, and while we work to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Data Retention

We retain account and purchase information for as long as your account remains active, so that you continue to have access to the ebooks you have purchased, and thereafter for as long as needed to meet our legal, accounting and record-keeping obligations. Contact form submissions and newsletter email addresses are retained until you ask us to delete them or unsubscribe, whichever is earlier.

7. Your Rights and Choices

You may, at any time:

  • Request access to, correction of, or deletion of the personal information we hold about you.
  • Unsubscribe from our newsletter using the unsubscribe link in any newsletter email, or by writing to us.
  • Ask us to close your account, subject to the records we are legally required to retain (such as records of past purchases).

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the details in the "Contact Us" section below. We will respond to verified requests within a reasonable time.

8. Children's Privacy

This website is not directed at children under the age of 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to remove it.

9. Third-Party Links and Embedded Content

Our website links to, and embeds content from, third-party platforms such as YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, X (Twitter), Telegram and WhatsApp, and uses Razorpay for payments. These third parties have their own privacy policies, and we encourage you to review them. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of any third-party website or service.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal, operational or regulatory reasons. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect the most recent revision. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
